Abigail Kurowski MS, RD, LD


Abby is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with over 10 years of experience. She received a Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Kent State University and a Bachelors of Science in Human and Consumer Sciences from Ohio University. 


Abby’s masters research focused on a mindful approach to eating and developing a healthy relationship with food.

Abby earned a certificate of training in food sensitivities, has provided guidance as a professional Health Coach, instructed plant-based cooking classes, and has shared her expertise through professional presentations and writings.

My Story


Eating has not always been easy for me. I struggled with eating throughout my teens and into my early twenties.  My relationship with food was not always great. Two major turning points in my life lead me on a journey developing a healthy, positive relationship to food.  First was finding yoga, which has connected me spiritually with mind-body awareness and relationship to food. Second was getting my Master's in Nutrition, learning the science, physiology, and psychology of eating and diving deeper into the research of how to be intuitive to the body and what mindful eating means.  

 

Mindful eating is not a diet, or about giving up anything.  It’s about experiencing, savoring, and enjoying food.  There is no depriving of food, but enjoying foods we love - for me it's chocolate, ice cream, or sweet potato fries!  Then find balance by taking a smaller portion, eating a nutritious snack, taking a long hike in the woods, or practicing yoga.  


I am a true believer of nourishing from within.  When you feel good on the inside you can truly shine on the outside.  Over time, being more mindful about what you eat, allows you to make better choices and how to respond to your body’s needs. Trust me this takes time, but you are not alone. We are on this journey together!

 

It gives me great joy helping and teaching others through living a whole, healthy, and fulfilled life. Self-care for me is practicing yoga and meditation, eating local foods, and exploring  local parks and shops. Nature is my happy place! Digging dirt in the garden or nurturing my house plants. I love spending time with my two energetic boys and golden retriever.
